How Does it Work?

We HELP those in need. We HELP you help those in need.

Through our programs, Common Ground is progressively finding ways to improve our community. We aim to create economic independence for those who have the least.

The bulk of the Common Ground program centers on our industry wide job-training courses.  Each session of these courses is 4-6 weeks in length, depending on the needs of our refugee clientele.  We assess, train, and prepare refugees for economic independence.  The training engages volunteers from the community as well as intensively trains refugees for the valuable skills needed in any place of work.

“Help Them Help You” is a home cleaning training program that has been piloted in Boise.  It’s a 6 week course that brings refugees to a place of confidence so that they are able to clean homes as independent contractors on their own.

“Grow at Home” is a program in development that acts as a mobile gardening, lawn care, and landscaping task force in the community.  Customers can elect service packages based on their home needs, and we complete the services as well as train refugees for future jobs.

Currently in development is a new program called “Common Ground Sew.”  We are exploring a partnership with a local small-business that has identified a market for their product and is looking for local manufacturing.
