Sigur Rós

“There came a moment in the middle of the song when he suddenly felt every heartbeat in the room & after that he never forgot he was part of something much bigger.” -Connected, by Brian Andreas

I’ve been to a lot of concerts…many of them big names. The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, Dave Matthews Band, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson,Death Cab for Cutie, etc, etc, etc. I could go on for awhile.

But still one concert remains legendary above all others. Only one concert has grabbed me, pulled me down the rabbit hole, and spit me back out a person forever changed. Was I the only one? Were others around me experiencing the same thing? I’ll never know for sure, and I don’t care. I’m sure of one thing, that it was the greatest single concert I’ve ever seen…and it will never be topped.

What band deserves such praise??? Sigur Rós

I saw Sigur Rós play The Big Easy (aka Knitting Factory) a few years ago. If you’ve listened to the band, you’d have a hard time believing me when I say they rocked harder, and were even louder, than any concert I’ve attended. Not that shitty kind of loud that suffocates you. It’s a good loud, and it sucks you in, and you find yourself thinking “louder damnit, louder…I can take more.”

Even though the experience was nothing but phenomenal, it was a little depressing knowing it was the band’s first time in Boise…and probably their last. Being that they’re from Iceland and spend much time playing sets across the whole wide world (www), they have to be a bit choosy about where they tour in the U.S. I believed for a long time that I might not see them live again. Well, bullocks…I was wrong.

In two days I leave with the lady to Seattle. Why? In the Emerald City is a concert that could, by all means, top the greatest concert experience ever. Sigur Rós at Benaroya Hall, Seattle.

The concert is on Sunday…and I am giddy. I love Seattle, and I love Sigur Rós. I will keep you updated on the goings and doings in Seattle.

Here’s a video for Sigur Rós’ Gobbledigook, from their latest album:

If I remember correctly, I was with you at your first Sigur Ros experience. However, I think the Death Cab concert we saw in Portland would be close to topping it if Mitchell hadn’t been trying to fight every person in the place.

    Have fun in Seattle.

Huberrino, Bowman started the fights…If I remember correctly, somebody made fun of his shoes and it all escalated from that. Bowman, didn’t you have a beer bottle up your sleeve????
